S/v Maris Stella is a unique, meticulously maintained 1981 Gulfstar Sailmaster 39. She is a turn key boat, hop aboard and go. These fine vessels were designed by Richard C. Lazzara and were built by Gulfstar, between 1981 – 82, there were 60 hulls built. The Gulfstar 39 was built during Gulfstar’s “golden era” so has top quality construction above and below decks with solid glass work, gorgeous teak throughout and high-quality hardware. Her encapsulated lead ballast is 8,200 pounds. The Sailmaster 39’s are known to have cruised the Caribbean extensively and capable of going beyond.
This beautiful vessel has been sailed many times to the Bahamas by her previous and current owners. Her current owners bought her in 2015 and have sailed her to Long Island Sound, to the Bahamas and now she is resting in the Rio Dulce after two trips here waiting for her next adventure.
S/v Maris Stella is outfitted to go cruising right now. She has been uniquely outfitted to be completely off grid. She has 1,300 watts of solar, 30amp Victron shore charger with Victron controllers going to the two 300 AH lithium batteries (600 AH total). There are also two 3000w 120v inverters. The current owners installed a 16,000 btu mini-split a/c that runs off of one of the 3000w inverters. You can literally run the a/c all night at anchor running off the batteries! This mini-split a/c is whisper quiet and draws less than half of the power of a similar size marine a/c, genius! This vessel holds 125 gallons of water, and there is a Katadyn Power Survivor 40 water maker to keep you topped up. Another unique feature is the residential chest freezer under the beautiful salon table, which also runs on the inverter off of the solar.
This vessel is the Mark 1 version of the Sailmaster 39, with one sleeping cabin in the v-berth, and 2 berths in the bright, open salon with one head and separate shower. Her teak and mahogany interior has been kept in immaculate condition, with all brightwork newly varnished. The step-down galley has all you need with a new 3 burner ENO stove with oven, countertop RO water filtration, and 12V refrigeration with built-in freezer section. There is also a microwave and ice maker.

The main sail is one year old and in excellent condition, new by Omar Sails, fully battened with loose foot. The headsail is a 115% Genoa by Precision Sails, it is 2 years old and in good condition.
