1988 Hinckley B40 MKIII

INTRODUCTION:

HARMONIA (name reserved) has benefited from extensive upgrades by her current owner and should be considered in excellent condition.  Some of work done since 2020 includes:

• Rebedding all portlights and replacing Lexan and gaskets on overhead hatches
• New varnished teak cockpit table
• Stripped and revarnished exterior teak
• New dodger and bimini
• New Seafrost 12v air/water cooled refrigeration system
• New batteries and battery charger

She is currently inside heated storage at Hinckley Yacht Services in Southwest Harbor put away for the winter and ready for her next owner.

CONSTRUCTION:

Solid fiberglass hull reinforced with additional laminations in all stress areas. Balsa cored deck is set in a 6’ flange which is molded into the hull, fiberglassed and bolted to form a permanent hull/deck joint.    Nonskid pattern is molded into the deck.

Hull:

• Topsides Awlgripped “Midnight Blue” with white boot stripe (2012) and red bottom paint
• External lead keel fastened with stainless steel bolts
• Bronze centerboard with Hinckley manual worm gear lift, which allows center board to ride up if grounded
• Varnished teak rubrail with stainless chafe strip

Deck:

• Off white gelcoat decks with molded in light gray non-skid
• Varnished teak toe rails, eyebrow, cabin top handrails and eyebrows
• All exterior varnish stripped and redone 2020
• Stainless steel bow and stern rails and stanchions with double lifelines and gates port and starboard (bow pulpit rebedded 2020)
• Varnished teak dorade boxes with chromes dorades and stainless steel guard
• Hinckley varnished teak overhead hatches with translucent Lexan tops (hatches can be hinged to open forward or aft (Lexan and gaskets new 2020)
• Fixed portlights on cabin sides (all rebedded 2020)
• Custom Hinckley cast stainless steel stem fitting with integrated chocks and single anchor roller
• Deck mount for spinnaker pole
• 12” stainless steel Herreshoff style bow cleats
• Stainless steel chocks integrated into toe rail amidships with stainless steel midship cleats
• Stainless mounts for horseshoe life rings mounted on stern rail port and starboard
• Varnished teak outboard mount on stern rail
• Varnished teak deck hatches aft of cockpit with access to lazarette, propane locker and storage

ACCOMMODATIONS:

HARMONIA features the updated B40 layout with the galley to port at the base of the companionway and a U-shaped dinette immediately forward.  Opposite the galley is an aft facing nav station/desk with a full length settee forward with pilot berth outboard.  Forward on the port is the head with hanging lockers opposite and a passageway forward opens up into the forward cabin with a larger and more comfortable offset double berth  in lieu of the more standard v-berth.

The interior is beautifully finished in satin varnished teak with painted white overheads and bulkheads in a partial Herreshoff style, resulting in a lighter and more open feeling interior.

• Large fixed portlights in the main and forward cabins with curtains provide abundant natural light.
• An opening portlight in the head and large overhead opening portlights provide additional light and excellent ventilation
• Overhead dorades provide additional ventilation
• Gloss finished solid teak and holly cabin sole with liftouts where needed to access systems below
• Espar diesel force hot air heating system provides comfortable dry heat for interior
• Overhead dome lights and Frigast Ocean bulkhead mounted reading lights throughout boat provide excellent lighting
• Teak paneled passageway and hanging locker doors.  All locker doors and slides have ventilation slots or louvers

Forward cabin:

• Offset double berth to port with seat to starboard
• Storage in shear lockers to starboard and on shelf to port as well as drawers at forward end of the berth
• Large hanging locker to port.
• Access forward to forepeak chain locker area

Galley:

• Storage in lockers and shelves outboard of dinette
• Settee opposite dinette pulls out to convert to comfortable single with storage in drawers below and in backrest and pilot berth above and outboard
• Shelf and 12v Hella fain above pilot berth
• Overhead varnished teak handrail on centerline and finger rails at base of trunk cabin sides provide excellent hand holds underway.
• Large hanging locker forward of settee to starboard with storage locker accessed at forward end of pilot berth

Navigation Station:

• Comfortable aft facing nav station opposite galley to starboard provides a good workspace aboard and easy communication to the cockpit
• Chart table lid opens with storage below
• Raymarine e125 display along with Raymarine ST60 graphic multi instrument display, VHF and water temperature display mounted at helm
