About the Feeling 1090:
Celeste is a Feeling 1090 (36ft), Owners Version, Year 1991, by Kirie Boat Yard in France. Designed by the famous Philippe Harlé. The Feeling 1090 has been described as one of the most successful models of the French Feeling yard. This is evident by how few of this model is currently for sale on international marketplaces. The 1090 model is known for its large amount of space and comfort, practical layout and good sail performance. Celeste is responsive at the slightest breath of wind. She is light on the helm and perfectly balanced, and quick to respond to commands. The deck layout is practical, with a clear foredeck. The halyards and control lines are guided aft towards the cockpit. The cockpit offers options for either steering wheel or tiller, and is a comfortable space for the crew while sailing, out on anchor or in port. Celeste is currently set up with a tiller, ensuring a spacious cockpit area. The aft swim platform / sugar scoop is integrated into the stern and is equipped with a swim ladder, wet locker / lazarette and a fresh water shower hose. The interior is surprisingly spacious, with sleeping arrangements for up to 6 persons. The 1090 has often been described as a ‘40ft feeling in a 36ft shell’ Makes for great marina savings!
The Kirie Boatyard is known for building their boats strong, spacious and super fast. Celeste is rated as a CAT A - Deep Sea.
Celeste is the perfect yacht for solo sailors, couples or first timers wanting to start their live aboard & sailing journey. Celeste is currently laying in the gorgeous archipelago of Bocas del Toro, Panama. The perfect location to explore the idyllic seas of the Caribbean, or easy access to the Panama Canal and the Pacific seas / Sea of Cortez sailing regions.
Celeste is super spacious and comfortable down below, with ample, well placed hand rails and a neat & nifty galley. She is an owner version, with 2 cabins and 1 heads, and a panoramic roof. Everything onboard is simple and uncomplicated, making for easy maintenance and easier access to parts etc. We were novice sailors when we bought Celeste, and she’s proven herself to be the perfect first live aboard boat for us. We registered her through Poland, which has the advantage of no annual registration fees.
There is a very active online forum for the Feeling 1090 sailing community. It’s primarily in French but thanks to Google Translate you can get all the info and help you need to maintain your dream yacht. https://www.clubfeeling1090.fr
We are the 4th owners of this yacht which started its life on Lake Geneva, Switzerland. The French owners before us created an awesome spacious cockpit by removing the wheel and installing a tiller with autopilot - at anchor this cockpit is by far the most spacious 36ft at anchor and with the sugar scoop close by swimming and enjoying the anchorage is so much fun. We often spend nights sleeping out in the cockpit, enjoying the peaceful anchorages of Bocas del Toro.
The davits are stainless steel, well made and strong. They hold the Whaly dingy with a Suzuki 15hp on the back with ease. We went with a Whaly dingy because we wanted ZERO issues (it’s not a deflatable) and it’s super light. Whaly boats are also unsinkable so they can be used as an extra life raft. Our dingy also has a funky bimini cover, easy to install or stow away, and perfect for days out snorkelling in the sun. There is a collapsible anchor with rode, as well as a storage locker that fits some engine spares, sunblock and the fuel canister for the outboard. There is ample, comfortable seating around the edge where you can stretch out and dry off easily after a swim!
Celeste has a furler for the headsail (Genoa 150%) and an on boom furler for the main sail! (Not an in mast furler). The main sail still has good life, and we’ve repaired the Genoa along a section that was unknowingly not protected sufficiently from the sun. There is also another staysail stowed away for stronger wind conditions (unused by us as it hasn’t been necessary in Bocas). The lines and halyards are in good condition, with spares stowed away.
Celeste has a 45lb Mantus anchor (2022) which has amazing holding, and there is an additional CQR anchor as a spare. The windlass is in good working condition.
The cockpit has a wonderfully deep, standing room garage, which houses the house battery banks, fuel tank, black water tanks, spare fuel cans and a whole lot more! There is a second storage locker which holds all tools, hardware supplies, spare paints and chemicals etc. There is also a separate back gas locker.
The antifoul paint on her hull is in good condition. Celeste is wiped down often, never using abrasive materials or harsh scraping methods. We’re gentle with her bottom!
Celeste comes with loads of spare parts and has been well looked after for the two years that we have had her. We have a running list of all spare parts, manuals etc, as well as when all services have been done.
In our opinion this yacht has everything you need to enjoy living onboard, and it’s in really good condition! Add to the mix a yacht with super sleek and sexy lines, Celeste is a winner!
So why are we selling Celeste? Well - we are adventure travelers and we’re off to do some long planned hikes for the next few years! The thought of leaving Celeste unattended for extended periods of time over the coming year does not sit well with us, so we’ve opted to sell. It’s been a tough decision to make, and we honestly would love to send her on to the perfect buyer who will love and cherish her as we do. Celeste is a special part of our family and we will cherish the many happy memories that we’ve enjoyed with her.
Maintenance projects that were planned for 2024:
Upgrading the solar for more power. Although it’s not strictly necessary as there is an alternator on the engine, solar power has improved over the past few years, and more wattage is now available at more affordable prices. And who ever has more than enough power??
Aft cabin repaint. The vinyl glue doesn’t last in the Caribbean heat, so the vinyl headliner will be removed and the cabin painted out with a rubberised, insulating paint that is also waterproof.
The final price will be reflective of how far along we’ve progressed with these projects.
We accept cash or crypto currency as payment.
