Tobago 35
  • Muirin, is a 1996 Fontaine Pajot Tobago 35; hull #92. Only 95 were built between 1993 and 1996 and she was one of the last out of the yard. I find that her size and design is fantastic for both handling ease, comfort, and speed while cruising and yet still affordable with respect to upkeep and maintenance (based on price per foot). Muirin has been hauled annually, throughout hurricane season, every year since I have owned her (2015). Her bottom, engines, saildrives, and sails have been very well maintained. A bottom barrier coat was applied fall 2020 and bottom painted annually; most recently November 2023.
  •  Specifications and upgrades: 1996 Fontaine Pajot, Tobago 35 hull #92 Engine and transmission Twin 2MG20FC European series Yanmar diesel engines; Port engine was rebuilt in 2019 due to a failed exhaust U manifold (~300hr); Stbd engine inspected and tuned in 2019 (~3000hr). Engine oil and filters are changed annually (most recently in Nov 2023). Fuel tanks are kept full with stabilizer.
  • 2022 new brass raw-water thru-hulls for both engines and raw water hose 2021-2022 installed new raw water pumps on both engines (with spare impellers) Twin SD20 Yanmar saildrives: Transmission fluid and zincs are changed annually; most recent in Nov 2023.
  • New stainless steel fairing plates were installed over new rubber fairing skirts in Nov 2023.
  • Rigging After a proximal lightning strike, the mast was pulled for a thorough inspection (as well as the hull when hauled). No damaged was found but I replaced the running and standing rigging since I had the mast down and I knew that the rigging was at least 5 years old.
  • 2022 new standing rigging
