If you are a traditionalist you will likely love the profile of this boat. Note the strong sheer line and clipped overhangs coupled with a shapely cabin trunk. Side decks are very wide, and the cockpit is big. The cockpit coamings are cut away aft to open up the entire deck area for the helmsman. All dimensions and proportions are on the svelte side, promising a boat that will sail extremely quickly.

As for aesthetics, J/160 is traditional in a functional and purposeful way. Short overhangs are combined with a smooth sweep of the sheer line and low freeboard to reduce wind resistance and facilitate boarding. The bow sections are flared to deflect waves downward, keeping the decks dry. The triple spreader rig conveys a graceful power, giving no hint of how easily it is managed.

This yacht has been meticulously maintained inside and out. The interior is spacious, clean in execution, beautifully appointed and exquisitely finished, befitting a proper flagship. Every detail and need has been addressed in terms of provisioning, equipment and storage space for coastal and offshore cruising. The finely crafted interior teak trim has been carefully upgraded to a hand oiled and waxed finish using natural based materials establishing a subtle satin surface.

The live-aboard comfort and styling of this yacht goes far beyond what you might expect from J Boats whose reputation was first built in world class racing.

The interior of Sugar is teak with satin finish. Starting forward she has a forward head with separate shower and wet locker with wash basin. The forward cabin has a pullman berth to port with drawers underneath and cabinets along the port side. Across to starboard is a desk with storage and mirror. There are storage drawers and a large hanging locker.

Just aft is a salon with an L-shaped settee to port with a pilot berth above. There is a settee to starboard with storage above and behind the seat backs. Aft of this settee to starboard is the large Nav Station with electronics and 12 volt DC and 110v AC control panels. There is ample storage in the chart table and outboard storage. Aft of the Nav is the second head with manual toilet sink and shower.

The U-shaped full galley is to port with double polished stainless steel sink, large freezer and two refrigerators, 3-burner propane range with oven and a microwave. There is ample drawers and cabinets for storage.

The two aft cabins each feature double berths, drawers for storage and a hanging locker, the starboard cabin sharing access to the day head and shower.
