The current owner is a professional captain. He holds a Master Mariner’s License (Unlimited) and has worked at sea in all parts of the world for 26 years. As a professional mariner, the maintenance and safety of the vessel have been his foremost concerns. The current owner has invested heavily in Moth to ensure she is well-equipped for offshore cruising. During two extensive shipyard periods in 2017 and 2022, the best possible equipment for comfortable, offshore cruising was installed.

The first shipyard period was completed in Southampton, England, 2017 (see detailed list of works completed below). Moth was then driven overland to the south coast of France in January 2018. Manufacturer Provided Description
The hull and deck of the HR 34 are built under constant supervision of the Lloyd's Register of Shipping, and a Lloyd's certificate is supplied with each boat. NGA-gelcoat and isophthalic polyester resin is used in the laminate construction of hull. The hand lay-up method provides insulation above the water line against heat and cold. Construction also includes strong floor reinforcements and a deep bilge. The boat has a very efficient bolt-on lead keel with 10 stainless steel bolts. Deck and coachroof areas, and also the cockpit, are of sandwich construction, laminated to the hull to form a one-piece construction. The large cockpit is well-protected by a windscreen made of tempered glass and a sprayhood. The middle section of the windscreen opens. In the stern is an integrated bathing platform with folding ladder. Cockpit floor and side trims are all in top quality teak. On deck the HR34 also has strong cleats forward and aft; spring cleats and fittings for spinnaker blocks; an easy-to-see compass in instrument console above sliding hatch. It has a stainless steel rudder shaft with roller bearings, and tiller steering. The rigging consists of a fractional rig by Selden with a strong backstay tensioner for trimming the mast. Running backstays are not necessary. The mainsail and working jib are made from high class material by a leading sail-maker. Halyards and lines are led into the cockpit. The interior is tastefully finished in mahogany with a matte silk varnish. There is no visible fiberglass. Detachable carpets have press studs to avoid movement, and floors are teak with inlaid holly stripes and varnished. The saloon has two sofas. The L-shaped sofa has lockers above and stowage space underneath. There is a strong saloon table, galley and a chart table with space for instruments. The forward and aft cabins both have lockers above and generous stowage below their berths.
